Mobile telephone study underway.

Epidemiologists at the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom will study victims of brain tumors over the next 3 years to determine if the use of mobile phones has contributed to the victims cancers. At the same time, the researchers will study the use of mobile phones by an equal number of people without cancer. Epidemiologist Tricia McKinney, PhD, who will lead the study said, “The causes of brain tumor are unknown. And these need to be identified before preventative measures can be taken.” In recent years, various individuals have posited the possibility that use of cellular telephones could contribute to a worldwide increase in brain tumors. However, the cellular industry has denied that its product is at fault and cites its own studies that refute those claims.
